The table functions as a datum line where all personal engagement takes place. The table continues though all aspects of program. The table becomes a place were interaction begins, continues and ends at the dining table. it functions like a conveyor belt, where the food is grown, harvested, cooked and served.
*Sketching on napkins seems appropriate for drawing The Dining Table.
This is a series of screen shots from a 18ft. long photo montage of a section though the neighborhood of Alphabet City starting at Tompkins Square Park. This tells the story of a homeless person coming to the site, and seeing all of these aspect of the program of my site.
This is where the DATUM LINE becomes a topic of discussion. This continuous line though the site and continues to the urban scale. This is where people of all kinds exchange human relationships. This is where people connect.
This is about the overlapping qualities of this program. The Garden [green] can run into the the eating and restaurant [red], while the restaurant is the connection between the garden and the housing [blue].
I really like this project because it’s basis is reclaiming the public space, for exactly that: PUBLIC SPACE. I don’t think that it’s real statement is to ‘get rid of vehicles’ but it is about creating a public environment in a dense environment. These are temporary public spaces, but they are definitely an IN YOUR FACE statement that is inclusive of the community and their surroundings.
.
Another reason why I think that this is important because a lot of times there are people who don’t know what is legal and what is illegal. This is a legal movement and they have found ways around the system to create a public statement. There are many people who want to reclaim public space, but aren’t sure how to do so.

I’ve been looking at the idea of functionality in architecture. I was told to make a 3D item of my 2D collage. Me, being the little shit that I am, decided to make a 2D image 3D.
.
This is a rendition of one thing becoming another. It’s a 2D collage which, by utilizing glasses, it becomes a 3D image. This has allowed me to look at an item and begin to think about how perceptions change, and by using a device, or tool, the function, or view of something can change.
.
It’s been a good discovery.
*note: 3D glasses are required to see something pop off the image.
