1. Working with the idea of activism in architecture and trying to define what that really means has been quite the battle for me. I have been doing some readings about the topic but I’m trying to get to the root of what it is that I like about the topic.

Is the idea of public parks? The public opinion in their own architecture? Does the architecture reflect the culture of it’s surroundings? This makes me think more and more about the writings of Rem Koolhaus and his famous [or infamous] phrase, “Fuck Conext”. I’m starting to disagree with some of his ideals because I really do feel like the public is just as much a part of the building as the building is a part of the public. It should be a two way mirror; one directly effecting another.

    .

What is the cultural landscape? Is it the buildings that affect the citizens or is it the citizens that affect the building?

    .

attached are some collages that have sparked my thoughts and ideas.
